Good Afternoon Sacred Heart Families,
Again we finish another busy fortnight with many exciting things happening at school.
Junior Pet Care incursion
On Tuesday the 30th of May the junior students enjoyed having the Responsible Pet
Ownership Education team who came to talk about safety around animals. Students had the
opportunity to learn about and role play safe interactions with pets and particularly dogs.
The educator brought her own dog and all children enjoyed the experience.
Online Platforms
Again, I ask all parents to be exceptionally vigilant with online platforms as children
at school age are not meant to be on them alone and most do not have the maturity
to be able to self-regulate without support from an adult. Please keep an eye on your
child/ren’s interactions on digital platforms.
Grade Six Gifts and Service Evening
On Monday during the day the Grade six students spent the day reflecting on their
knowledge of the Gifts of the Spirit. They completed research tasks around Catholic
canonised saints and real-life saints in their lives. Together with their teachers
helping they prepared a meal for their families and on the night they served entrée,
mains and dessert. Some children didn’t have the people attending they wanted but
used the gifts they studied of courage, strength and understanding to show resilience
around their feelings. The whole Grade 6 team are supporting the candidates who
will Confirm their Baptism and I ask you to keep in your prayers Apenisa, Darci-Rose, Aleksja, Isabella H and Helanah as they continue their journey preparing for
receiving the sacrament of Confirmation.
Grade 5/6 Camp
Today the Grade 5/6 campers returned to school, tired but happy. Both Mrs. Martin
and Mrs. Trotman have given the thumbs up for the venue and the children’s
behaviour. As I have been at a conference in the city, I have been in the same boat
at parents looking on via Facebook at what’s going on. Looking at the children face
challenges and work in teams has been a delight.
School Uniform
Please continue to send your children in correct uniform, children must wear black
shoes on the four days they do not have sport. If they are wearing runners, they
must not have brand logos on them.
PRIME drinks at school
I ask all parents to refrain from sending the PRIME hydration drink to school. We
have had several bottles brought by students with either the energy drink in it or
water. The drink itself is not recommended for children under 15 and due to this
recommendation, we will not be allowing its consumption at school. We have found
that the children using it as a drink bottle are causing attention around the status that
it receives and ask that regular drink bottles are used for water.
Blessings for the extralong weekend and we will you all on Wednesday,
Anne-Marie Robb
