Dear Parents and Carers,
The beginning of this newsletter starts with a triple THANK YOU and a triple WELL DONE. We are so fortunate to be in a regional centre that has not been included in the hot spots for COVID and we have survived the four days of remote learning.
So, the triple THANK YOU goes firstly to the amazing staff who had to quickly enact a digital platform. I am so grateful to their commitment to this beautiful school and the amazing children that they teach. The second THANK YOU is for you the parents and carers who again, have suddenly needed to be nurturers and teachers, juggling the balance of home and school as required. Lastly, my THANK YOU is to our students who have shown great resilience, fortitude and creativity throughout remote learning. WELL DONE!
We have planned as much interaction in the school setting to stimulate our students and create a high quality of delivery at each students’ point of need which has improved with the skills we have learned throughout the remote learning space.
We are waiting on final approval for the Grade 5/6 camp for the last week of Term 2. We are also hoping the junior excursions planned for that week can also go ahead.
Our celebration for the Feast of The Sacred Heart is not likely to be a held at the church, however it will be commemorated at school.
Lastly, I would like to bring your attention to our Reconciliation Week post on Facebook. Our presentation has been created on the lands of the Gunaikurnai people and we wish to acknowledge them as Traditional Owners. We would also like to pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, and Aboriginal Elders of other communities who may view our work today and into the future.
The theme ‘More than a word. Reconciliation takes action’, echoes the voice of John - 1 John 3:18
“let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth”
We owe to Christ this commitment to all people as one worldly nation of God’s children. Our actions speak louder than words, and everything we do and make must herald our commitment to listening to the hurt and harm caused in the past and present to our 1st nation’s people. And then, our commitment must extend to doing something about it. It is so much more than saying sorry.
Looking forward to next week with for a full week of celebrating learning on site.
Yours in Partnership,
